Machine Learning Research Scientist
Job Description
Machine Learning Research Scientist
Full-time | Boston or New York City (Hybrid)
$180,000–$210,000 + Equity
We're partnering with a VC backed biotech company using machine learning to solve complex problems in protein engineering and gene therapy. They've received $100M+ from highly prolific investors and combine deep expertise in biology, machine learning, and software engineering.
This is a hands-on research role focused on designing and implementing models that help optimize biological sequences for real-world therapeutic applications. You'll be part of a world-class ML team working closely with experimental biologists and computational scientists, using one of the most unique biological datasets available.
What You’ll Do:
- Build and evaluate ML models to optimize protein and gene delivery
- Analyze in-vivo biological data to uncover patterns and drive modeling improvements
- Work cross-functionally with software engineers and biologists to integrate ML into core product pipelines
- Write high-quality Python code and contribute to a modern ML stack (PyTorch, AlphaFold)
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience building deep learning models for biological, sequence-based, or similar structured data
- Strong Python and ML engineering skills (PyTorch preferred)
- Interest in applying ML to high-impact problems in biotech
- PhD or Master’s in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field
- Must be based in Boston or NYC and open to 1x/week in-office (hybrid)
This is an opportunity to join a team working on cutting-edge applications of AI in biology, tackling problems that have a direct path to real-world impact.
If this sounds like your kind of challenge, apply and we'll be in touch.
